In our household, I do all the cooking, and Louis does all the cleaning.  There is good reason for this.  See the above?  That used to be my favourite mixing bowl.  I picked it up for next to nothing at a sample sale, and it came with cute matching measuring cups.  It was the perfect shape and size, light, sturdy, and I really liked the colour.  Then one day I asked Louis if he would help me make brownies.  He nicely agreed, and after measuring out the butter and sugar, I asked him to beat them together.  This is when I discovered a couple of things:

  1. There are people who know even less about cooking than I do.
  2. One should be very careful with one’s words when giving instructions to people who know even less about cooking than I do.

Louis’ interpretation of ‘beating the butter and sugar together’ was not exactly the traditional one, and before we knew it, there was a hole in the bottom of what used to be my favourite mixing bowl, and sugar all over the counter.  Like I said, there is a reason I do all the cooking, and Louis does all the cleaning. So, why another food blog? (or Let’s eat pizza!)

So, why another food blog? Well, it’s a long story, and I tend to ramble, so take this as your warning that this is going to take a while.   Think ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ – kind of takes ages, necessary to set the scene for everything that follows, and does get more exciting towards the end. (We’ve actually just answered part of the question ‘why a blog?’ My primary school reports are full of comments about what a chatterbox I was. Nothing has changed, and my tendency to ramble has found its way online. When I started posting photos on Instagram with essay length captions, it became clear that I needed another outlet for my words.)

So, why another food blog? Let’s start with the obvious. I LOVE FOOD. There are many reasons for this. However as a First Cause, it’s pretty hard to go past the fact that I was given a Chinese restaurant for my fourth birthday. Okay, that’s not entirely true. My parents had a Chinese Restaurant, and the opening night was on my birthday – you can see how I might have been confused about the ownership. Continue reading So, why another food blog?
